Commissioning Checklist

Inside Cabin

Clean and spray inside cabins with mold & mildew cleaner

·         4 qt. Water

·         1 qt. Bleach

·         2/3 cup TSP

Clean portlights

Clean heaters and fans

Clean and refill Dry-Z-Air canisters

Vacuum carpeting

Inspect fire extinguishers for weigh and any necessary re-charging

Deck

Wash boat and inspect for leaks

Cleanout bow drains

Refinish varnish on exterior mahogany

Handrails

Cap & toe rail

Rub rail

Transom

Name boards

Clean and polish stanchions and chrome

Inspect deck seams and reseal where necessary

Inspect railings, cleats, handholds and ladders to make sure they are secure

Clean, bleach and seal teak deck

Wax wheelhouse roof, wheelhouse and deckhouse

Clean canvas and apply waterproofing

Clean canvas side windows

Lubricate zippers and snaps on canvas

Clean cushions

Hull

Wash hull

Clean and polish portlight frames

Spot sand, prime and paint hull

Safety

Replace flashlight batteries

Replace expired signal flares

Electrical

Set battery charging switches

32-volt system

                Port battery switch – “On”

    Starboard battery switch “On”

    32-volt ship service selector switch “1” (Starboard)

12-volt system

    12-volt ship service selector switch “1”

Clean battery terminals and tighten

Charge batteries

Check battery fluid level and top-off with distilled water

Test battery condition with hydrometer. Specific Gravity reading should be between 1.2 and 1.3

Inspect all electrical equipment

Inspect shore power feed

Test navigation lights

Test that winch turn freely then lubricate

Test air conditioning and heating

Test refrigerator and freezer

Test stove burners and oven is working properly

Electronics

Test all electronics

Radar

GPS

Radio

Auto pilot

Depth gauge

Plumbing

Fill fresh water tank

Inspect fresh water lines fittings, hoses and clamps for leaks

Tie-in hot water heater

Test water pump.

Inspect through-hull fitting

Inspect hoses and clamps

Lubricate seacock valve

·         Close valve

·         Remove hose or tubing

·         Remove any remaining water from inside of valve

·         Swab waterproof grease on the inside of the valve mechanism

·         Reattach the hose or tubing, check clamps or fitting

·         Activate the valve several times to spread the grease

Through-Hull / Seacock locations

·         Forward Guest Cabin Salt-water feed to toilet - port side bottom

·         Treated waste discharge from Lectro/San - Starboard side bottom

·         Port engine salt-water cooling feed - port side bottom

·         Starboard engine salt-water cooling feed - Starboard side bottom

·         Generator salt-water cooling feed - port side bottom

·         Air Conditioner salt-water cooling feed - Starboard side bottom

·         Owners Cabin Toilet holding tank discharge - Starboard side bottom

Galley

Inspect sink drain hoses and clamps for leaks

Test sink hot and cold water hoses and clamps for leaks

Heads

Inspect shower hot and cold water hoses and clamps for leaks

Inspect shower sump pump hoses and clamps for leaks

Inspect sink drain hoses and clamps for leaks

Inspect sink hot and cold water hoses and clamps for leaks

Inspect toilet and pump hoses and clamps for leaks

Inspect toilet holding tank hoses and clamps for leaks

Engines and Transmission – includes drive engines and the electrical generator

Check engine oil level

SAE 40 oil

Check transmission oil level

SAE 30 oil

Check coolant levels

Install new engine filters

Install new transmission filters

Test bilge blower and inspect vent

Run engines in gear for ten minutes

Check forwards and reverse shifting

Inspect engine for oil leaks

Check engine instruments for operation

Check idling speed R.P.M.

Check that shaft is coupled and aligned to .003 maximum tolerance

Inspect diesel engine emergency shutoff cables

Inspect engine belts; replace any that look worn.  Purchase spares to keep on board

Inspect engine hoses and clamps for leaks

Inspect exhaust system for leaks

Inspect fuel line fittings, hoses and clamps for leaks

Inspect rudder and steering gear and lubricate

Inspect shaft and rudder stuffing boxes for leaks

Inspect that engine wires and connections are tight

Inspect the exhaust water flow

Inspect throttle control cable travels and brackets

Fill fuel tanks

Bilge

Inspect that the general area is clean

Test manual and automatic operation of each bilge pump
