Independence was originally purchased by the Terminal Transfer Company in Miami, Florida and named "Double T". Nine owners later the she is still a fine example of the craftsmanship of the time and serving her owner well.

Dave Schroeder believes he bought the boat from a man called Norm Ceaser (sp) in York Harbor, Maine. He said he believes the boat was then called “April Ann”. Dave thinks the boat was cruising in the Texas waters.

The original Chris-Craft records show that the boat was ordered by the Dunham Shipyard 435 City Island Ave. City Island, 64 NY. The boat was picked up and delivered by “Rodi Boat Company” as the “Double T” to: Terminal Transport Co., Inc. Miami, Florida.
