Seasonal Maintenance Checklist

Hull and Deck

Oil and seal teak deck

Clean wheelhouse and deckhouse

Disassemble winch and lubricate bearings and pawls

Inspect cockpit drains and clear debris

Inspect hatch gaskets and hold down fasteners

Inspect the antifouling paint on the bottom, keel and rudder condition of antifouling paint

Wax gel coat surfaces

Electrical

Clean battery terminals and tighten

Inspect and coat electrical system connections

Charge batteries

Check battery fluid level and top-off with distilled water

Inspect all electrical equipment

Inspect shore power feed

Reinstall all electronics

Test air conditioning and heating is working properly

Test all navigation and instrumental lights

Test refrigerator and freezer

Test stove burners and oven is working properly

Test that winch turns freely, lubricate

Plumbing

Check through-hulls, seacocks, hoses and clamps

Drain and flush fresh water system

Engine -- Includes both the drive engines and the electrical generator

Check all filters

Check engine oil and coolant levels

Check exhaust system for leaks or deterioration, insulation in place

Check filters for leaks

Check forward and reverse shifting

Check idling speed R.P.M.

Check packing gland

Check shaft alignment repack stuffing box if necessary

Check that cooling water intake valve opens and closes

Check the fuel tank fitting and hose clamps

Clean motor thoroughly

Inspect fuel system

Inspect shaft and rudder stuffing boxes for leaks

Test bilge blower and inspect vent

Tighten all bolts and nuts to proper torque

Tune engine

Transmission

Check transmission oil level
          Fluid level is checked with engine off and using 30 weight oil

Bilge

Inspect bilge for fuel and that compartment is clean and dry

Test manual and automatic operation of each bilge pump
