Monday, May 03, 1999 at Harbortown Marina

The day began at 06:00 with hot coffee, showers. The sky clear, winds light, sea calm and the temperature predicted to be in the mid eighties. With the engine and transmission fluids checked and all the electronic gear tested, Independence got underway at 07:20 headed out into the channel and turned north to continue the trip to New Jersey. The general boat traffic was light because of the workday. After a short stop for groceries and a fuel top-off, Independence was underway again moving further north. Lunch on-board was cheeseburgers, with lettuce and tomato. The cruising day ended at 20:30 as Independence made her way into the Riverview Marina in New Smyrna Beach. Independence refueled taking on 137 gallons of diesel fuel. Fuel consumption is running at 10.5 GPH. Dinner was BLTs and adult beverages.
