WheelhouseWheelhouse - Steering, navigation and engine operations are performed from the light, airy, semi-enclosed 8' x 12' Wheelhouse.  The comfortable wheelhouse offers a complete wraparound view of the entire vessel.  The three, swept back, forward facing windshields are each equipped with independent electric windshield wipers.  The center windshield tilts opens to allow for additional ventilation.  The windshields is held open by the original, Chris-Craft hardware.  The Wheelhouse roof has a slight camber for rainwater runoff, but also has a wrap-around carriage roof visor to keep the elements out. Two 9’ Hickory boat polls, one on the port and one one the starboard side are located outside under the roof overhang at the top of the side windows. Access to Independence is gained through the two mahogany side doors that sit back from the Wheelhouse.
